You live, you learn.

Unlike previous years, the anticipation towards my birthday wasn't as great. Mostly because prior to that date, I've been spending my day and night entertaining my boyfriend and two buddies who flew to Miri for their end of the year holiday. Unlike previous years, less time were spent thinking how I shouldn't expect too much out of my birthday as more time were spent on scouring for food to eat (so much that Nadirah and I puked, on separate nights), places to see, things to experience. So much time went to pillow talk for Nadirah and I, so many things shared, yet so much more left unvisited. The build-up towards my birthday was more than I could have ever expected, it left me so happy and elated that the thought of how I wanted my birthday to be slipped my mind. Right there and then, it was perfect.

We flew to Mulu on the eve of my birthday. We walked 7.6 km on the first day alone, visited two caves and I got to apply what little knowledge I have on limestone with them, returned to our rooms, all sore from our walk and spent the rest of the night playing a card game Uzair taught us all - Big Two. Too tired to even bother about midnight, we slept minutes before it. Still, it exceeded anything I could've asked for.

The highlight of the day itself was the impromptu birthday song in my room in the morning, the group hug, our boat ride, my new rattan bangles from the local community we stopped by on our way to the cave, and of course swimming in the river not far from its source! Absolutely perfect.

I could let on more on the things we did but truly, it was all about the company I was in.

Merriest birthday to me. I am blessed, happy and more than excited to embark on the next phase. I am also stirring in excitement, awaiting the arrival of my birthday gift from my father I just purchased from Apple.com.

You read that right, bitches!
