Some of my favourite eateries.

 .. in JB!

Just 'cos you know... It's Ramadhan. And it's only 2 pm at the moment.

I was in JB last week for two days! But this time sans Ahmad. I was the designated driver and I'm sooo proud of myself because we only got lost once. Or twice. Doesn't matter! At least to me. But I was able to find my way back everytime. See! I do pay attention even when I'm sitting in the passenger seat all the time.

Anyway, this post is pointless. And I've been with this layout for so long, it's getting uninspiring. And nom nom food nyum nyum 5 hours until nom nyum foooood grumble food growl nom nyum. Right? I know!

I'm making SO much sense, it's killing me.

Ramadhan.

We were each given this by Shinat today.

It's  my personal Ramadhan report card! S, Z, A, M, and I are for the Fardhu prayers that I'm going to perform. T and Q, on the other hand, is for Terawikh and Qur'an. I'm supposed to tick at the box after every prayer / Qur'an reciting that I do!

"So, at the end of Ramadhan, you can show this to Fatin and ask for reward."

Told him about it and he's excited to (I swear I did not coax him into agreeing!) reward me. "Anything that can make you happy." You're pushing it, my dear.

Of course, the utmost reward awaits.

Bring it.

Oh, salam Ramadhan al-Mubarak. May this year's Ramadhan bring us closer to His most gracious, most merciful and may it be a beautiful month for everyone.

Prep-

Okay, so I've been inviting people to our day in December and it just reminds me how there are A LOT of things we have to do prior to that day!

For instance -

Invitation card.

PEOPLE, PEOPLE! I will give you the invitation cards when I have them in my hand. Okay, before that even happens, I've got to decide on what design I want for the card, first. Eeep!

The Baju.

Just my luck, I can be the most fickle person ever. We've met with a lady who'd be in charge of this and at least Ahmad has had his measurement taken. Not me.. 'cos I might lose some weight after the

Diet.

Is it really necessary, though? Fine. Both Ahmad and I have expanded horizontally. But fasting month's around the corner and we do need to watch our budget 'cos..

We're moving to a new house.

Yes! We are moving into a house! I've stayed all over the city and soon a new territory will be marked by yours truly and world domination will be miiiine! Muahahahahar.

K.

So by December, we'll have a place we can temporarily call 'home'. We're so excited about this the most! We have even discussed the furniture arrangement. But so many things are tied to this. The moving truck. All the disassembling and reassembling to be done. Packing and unpacking. A lot of things to buy..

All the moving needs to be done before September. And packing and unpacking and furniture arranging before end of November because.. I'd already be in Miri for the big day by then! And it's July now.

Expect me freaking out in 3... 2...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH.

June's the month to get busy.

I don't always post pictures of faces here, but when I do, I shall do them in pair.

First up - Seri is getting hitched!

We had the "bachelorette" dinner at Chili's, KLCC and the bride-to-be just had to wear the crown on her head the whole time. Talk about power-crazy! Many jokes ensued, as per ushe. But Chili's an appropriate place for our bunch, really. 'Cos being too loud at Italiannes is definitely not. (must remind our gang to not ever dine at quiet places like that again)

Plus, I love me some Buffalo Wings, Doggamit!

We'll be heading to Segamat this Saturday for the reception on her side. Expect moar pictures on that day!

And, and, and.. We just ticked one thing off from our To Do list this month.

When I asked him whether I looked pretty or not. Pfft, girls.

"Hari ni. Cantik. Selama-lamanya memang cantik but you tanya hari ni.. Kalau compare.."

Yes, yes, I understand, my dear Ahmad. : )

That silly hole and that silly girl who insisted for a photo with it. But who's sillier than the silly suggestion? The silly guy who followed en suite.

Next up-

Segamat this Saturday, my brother's nikah next Sunday, his birthday this 26th, Nabila's wedding the next Saturday and then it'll be July!

And oh the start of July will be reeeaaally special.

Thoughts.

Sometimes I worry and these thoughts, I confide in him.

And then I'm back to being happy. And excited. And giddy. And all sorts of gooey mushy girly feely - all jumbled into one huge pink cloud that hangs perfectly on top of our heads..

Ya Allah, seriously, I'm happy.

Hi?

Aysha, your blog is collecting dust! And BAM! After so many drafts go unpublished, here I am 5 weeks after the (not so) latest post.

I'll start s l o w l y..

This was taken when we went for our mid-week Melaka getaway. Ended up spending most of our time in jewellery stores. Pssh, what a buncha grown ups! We had seafood after and managed to get on the Menara Taming Sari. Drove back to KL at 10 or so? I'm a LOUSY co-pilot (why does he still ask me to go back to JB with him, seriously?), I usually sleep after the second hour in the car - or just remain quiet and unresponsive, which is as good as me dozing off, anyway.

And when I do regain consciousness, I'd be all,

"I neeeed to pee!" "Mok kemeh!" "Nak kencing, nak kecing!" "Where are we now?"

Yeap, we try to be as multilingual as we can. He usually surprises me with some of his sudden input in our conversation, like when I complained about traffic jam and how I need to reach somewhere soon and he'd asked, "Habis ya.. Giney??" Convincingly, if I may add.

Okay, that's all.

I miss updating here. I honestly schmostly do!

Gong xi, gong xi.

My work desk....

.. Which has nothing to do with what I wanted to write about. Well, maybe a little.

Life has been wonderful.

Work is great (the only thing related to the picture!). Family is waaay better than amazing - my dear brother is getting engaged soon. And not forgetting another little addition to our family this year. You bet your cow, my mom is ecstatic. Friends seem to be contented. Quite a number of them are going to tie the knot soon! I may have to start shopping for new baju kurung for all the majlis this year.

And when everyone is happy, I can't help but to feel so beamingly happy too. :-)

You should know that I am currently attempting to kick the habit of 'melatah'. The 'melatah' part isn't really a problem, it's what I blurt out is! I always have to apologise everytime I latah - even when my latah is right after I tripped over something and rubberneckers just wanted to laugh but I feel so guilty... So I've been trying to say Kicap instead of.. well. You know. Wish me luck! And you know I need at least 5 bags full of it. So get cracking! Luck! Wish me. NOW.

Heh heh.

This was supposed to only be a filler post. But as per usual..... Awh, typical Aysha!

I am currently in Kemaman at a future new family's house for some bonding. This trip is going to be interesting. I first came here 2 years ago for a fieldwork. Been trying to remember what we did here but find myself confusing our time in Mersing and Kemaman every time. Definitely a geologically challenged Geology graduate! And then there's that memory at Tanjung Gemok.... Which reminds me of the wedding presentation we wanted to make for one of our friends - we were talking about including the extremely hilarious series of photos we took together and  present it to the guests on her wedding day! Kalau laki masih sayang, memang cinta sejati lah!

And that got to one of them talking about the video of me at Tanjung Gemok and him wanting to make the same thing! I shudder at the thought of the video still existing somewhere.. Kalau masih sayang aku lepas tengok video tu, memang maha agung lah cinta, aku berjanji sumpah setia sampai mati! Boys and girls, it is thaaaat embarrassing.

Anyway, many things have not quite sunk in yet. I still write 2011 in my notebook instead of 2012. I am still questioning many things. Still in disbelief, if I have to be honest. But in a good way. I'm happy. And thankful. And grateful. And I gotta feeling that this year is going to be fracking ace.

So.. Amin to that?

P.s. Kawan kawan, what happens during fieldwork, STAYS between us!

Needles.

First thing that greeted me in the doctor's room was, "Are you scared of needles?" The nurse smiled.

Of course, you should know that the first thing that greeted THEM when I entered the room was my anxious wail of, "Arrrrghhhhhhhhh!"

"Yes!" I answered with a pout. I know I shouldn't. But I couldn't help it!

"Haha. It won't hurt," the doctor comforted me.

LIES! Potong lidah!

After a series of knee bending, arms forward and whatnot, he ushered me back to my seat. "You mind if I draw some blood for your blood test?" Half-asking, half-demanding.

"Yes, very much... But I have no choice!" There's that pout again!

He laughed.

"Your veins are very fine..."

"Is that a good thing??"

He laughed again. Hey, that was a genuine question! Good or not!? Tell meeeeeeeee.

Some arm exercise later, he said, intently looking at the numerous veins on my arm, "I try to.."

"You try??" I pulled back my arm from his grasp.

His boisterous laughter filled the room. OH COME ON, DOC.

5 minutes later, he managed to draw some blood despite me trying to delay him with all my nonsensical chatter about random things.

"I thought I was late but when I arrived the nurse baru bukak pintu depan."
"Aha. Ye.."

"So the ones outside are here for medical check-up as well?"
"Yes, they are here for foreigners' medical check-up."

"I can't remember the last time I had blood test..."
Quiet.
Cleared my throat to get his attention.
"Hmm? Oh don't worry. Ni sakit sikit je."

5 minutes later, semua beres.

Walked out of the room with my head held high and a smile.

Meh! Sik mati pun. /smug

Now, where's my ice cream!!

Good to be back.

Darling niece being such a darling.

Back to our usual routine of lots and lots of walking (which I don't do anywhere else).
Someone please tell him how lucky he is that he could get me to do all this?

Jack and I, reunited.

In the office (kantoi suka pusing-pusing kat kerusi).

Two more things to look forward to for December! Ah, happy is moi. : )

Good news.

HUWARGH so many things I want to blog about but my smashed laptop's screen is yet to be repaired! Now that Jaja is here, I'm going to abuse her laptop just for a little while. *flexes fingers*

Last month alone, I was in KL for two times - first, for my convocation, the second, for job interviews. Long story short, I got offered two jobs, to which I have accepted one and will be reporting for duty this December. HUZZAH! Toldcha I'll be back.

It was a really short trip but the good news made it allll worthwhile.

Since flight tickets from KL - MYY costs a bomb (also an arm and a leg), I had to improvise. And for less than RM 200, I did. So I flew in from another city to Miri that day.

Hopefully Leon will be alright by the time I come back next week, but for now I'll leave the first page of my personal space on the net with these pictures taken on my second trip to Tanah Semenanjung.

Roti jala with kuah kari.
Beautiful assortment of my breakfast in a city somewhere down South.

Conversation between him and I during breakfast - he couldn't stop gushing all about the dishes to me. True blue Johorian, that man is.

"Cucur Johor?" I joked as the last plate arrived to join the rest of the feast.

He laughed, "Ha ah, cucur Johor!"

"You memang nak I rasa semua makanan Johor eh?" I asked.

"Yes! Kena!" Smug.

"Nanti kalau you datang Sarawak, you mesti makan semua makanan Melanau!" I announced!

Quiet. His furrowed brows hung over his worried face.

.
..
...

"I TAK KASIK YOU MAKAN ULAT LAH!"

"OH NASIB BAIK!!!" Baru dia senyum lega!

Apa lah Ahmad! Ulat makruh.

Bagi you makan kura-kura je.

What's for dinner?

Let's play a game - try and match three ladies;

  • A 20 year old, who just recently got engaged and is going to get married next year.
  • A 27 year old who's been working for 3 or 4 years, single*, and at a ripe age to get married.
  • A 23 year old who just started working and is not qualified to even gatal to think about the M word.

.. and what they were going to have for dinner after a long day at work.

  • Indomie Maggi.
  • Koko Krunch with fresh milk.
  • Ayam masak merah, sayur kacang with mushroom.

Go on!

* single = no ring on her finger.

P.s. Today kena buli sebab sik reti bancuh kopi kalau bukan 3 in 1. But but I know how to make Teh Tarik now! Pssh, Teh Tarik?? Apa jak lah.. *SMUG*

Salam Aidilfitri.

'Tis the last day of Ramadhan! What have you achieved this year?

For me, this year was my first year of fasting in Bintulu. DON'T let me start on Bintulu. Please. Not that bigga deal if you consider how I was always away on Ramadhan since 2005. First it was Labuan (gag), then it was KL and now Bintulu. I guess Labuan wins the Worst Place to be Fasting In category. KL has the most atrociously awful traffic jam during this time of the year and Bintulu? Can't say anything much because it's... Bintulu? And that's not a good thing.

Whatever it is, Miri wins, hands down. Though my Ramadhan has never been the same without the famous abang who sells Murtabak Jakarta! Where has he gone off to? It has been.. what? Four years since I last have me some of those murtabak??

ABANG, BALIK LAH MALAYSIA. T_T

I swear on my flight tickets to KL this October, I will get to eat Murtabak Jakarta again before I die. Even at the cost of going there myself! *stalks AirAsia website*

I guess Bintulu is at least good for one thing, I get to do tarawikh at the mosque more than I've ever done so in KL or Labuan because I have Uncle with me. So, it's nice to join in the kampung people. Even if they sometimes stare because I was always alone, and obviously am not from around there. Or maybe because I just dazzle in my telekung.

.
..
...

But lemme tell you something! I am sick of people in coveralls being everywhere! And they are literally EVERYWHERE. On my way to work, I see these people walking along the road, or waiting for the bus. In the office, when that one contractor comes in to fix things. At the site, well that I understand because they have to. At the gas station, well they gotta fill up their tanks too. At pasar Ramadhan, in flocks, I swear! E-ve-ry-where.

There are so many things I wish out of Bintulu but I guess I just have to settle with things to be grateful of.

Last Friday, I was cruising from the office on my way to town, which, mind you, takes almost an hour to and fro, with earphones blaring off playlist from my iPhone, when I passed by this young lady carrying two luggage bags, with her one hand holding a child.

They were walking alongside the highway and it was murderously hot outside. See, ever since my first week in Bintulu I've been wanting to let someone hitch a ride with me but I never came to it because..

I was always in a rush.
It's not safe to just let strangers in your car, I can hear Ahmad in the background, "Nurul, jaga diri elok-elok tau." and trust me, he says that almost everyday.
The highway from our site office to nearby housing area is not that near, so (God forbid) if anything were to happen..

But that day, it was different. There were a lot of cars on the road because everyone was rushing to go somewhere before they go back for holiday. I really wanted to help but I hesitated at first but bad conscience over responsibility overpowered me. So I made a U-turn up ahead and looked for the lady. Saw her, made another U-turn and stopped by the road side.

"Kakak? Mau pergi mana?"
"Stesen bas.."
"Masuk lah kereta, kita sama-sama pergi. Kamek pun on the way."

She looked like she just showered in her own sweat. She got in the car with her two bags and her daughter, who must not have been a year older than 5? 6? And so we started chatting.

"Mau balik sine?" I spoke in both Sarawak dialect and a little bit of Bahasa itself, because I didn't know whether she was Iban or Indonesian. From our conversation later on, I found out she's the former.
"Miri.. Sudah lama tidak balik." She spoke softly. She seemed friendly, Good! I thought.
"Oh! Kamek pun orang Miri. Berapa lama sudah kakak sik balik?" I asked.
"Dua tahun.. Ya lah, mok tengok bajet kan." She said, her smile never left her lips.

And here you have me, driving back every weekend because RM50 for full tank is dispensable.

We got on more personal topics, how long has she stayed in Bintulu. How long have I been in Bintulu. Her father's kampung, mother's kampung, her kids. Her husband and former husband.

During some parts of our conversation, especially when she shared about her ex husband and why the marriage broke up, her voice was trembling.

Aku sedih. :'(

Ya Allah, protect all the women out there including myself from abusive husbands, I thought to myself.

If someone who's been through so much like her struggled with that type of men, apa lagi someone semanja aku, who has never even been hit or threatened with words by my own father.

We ventured into new topics after, her kampung in Niah and how there's no water and they take their showers in the river at the plantation and I was even more pressed with guilt. I see rivers being polluted everyday by the contractors and what do I do? Take a picture of it, make a report and instruct the contractors to do something about it - which is always too late for any action, anyway.

We reached the bus station, I helped her carry her things out of the car and she suddenly held out RM10 for me, "Untuk tambang kereta, dik."

Aku sedih lagi. What's RM10 for me?

"Tidak apa kak, kamek pun on the way jugak. Bagus-bagus okay?" I said, slipping in something.

"Terima kasih," She said gratefully.

And that alone made my whole week.

* * *

Since all of us are here (me from Bintulu, my baby sister from Kuching and my brother from KL), my father decided to break our fast at the hotel. Because he misses us! Well, he wouldn't say it. Pfft. But I know that man good enough that he does not need to say a word.

Looking all animated, telling a story about something.

My brother, my baby sister (who just cut her hair after being coerced to by yours truly) and my father who looked away when he saw me holding up my phone. Ecececeh!

Since it's my brother in law's turn to celebrate the first day of Raya at his kampung in Kedah, my sister and my niece will not be here for Raya until only the 5th day. I'm sharing this information because it's vital to the next part of my story.

Ayra, my niece, is my parents' first grandchild. My mother took care of her when she was here. My mother is lonely. My mother wants another grandchild so if Ayra can't celebrate Raya here at least she'll have the other grandchild to celebrate with. And then sitting at the same table, you have us - my 30 year old brother who's single, 23 year old me who just started working this year and my 19 year old sister. GO!

"Dzul, kahwin lagik kau Dzul."

Abang senyap. "Mmm."

"Okay? Mak mbak kau pergi Bandung cari bini, okay?"

"Mmm." Abang makan salad.

Because abang was not responsive, my mother turned to her daughter sitting next to her - me.

"Kitak kahwin bila, Sha?"

"Sekda duit," I said.

"Oh sikpa, mak belanja! Mak belanja! Bertunang jak dolok!"

"Mmm."

When two of her most probable children to get married soon both refused to respond to her pleading, she turned to her youngest.

"Baby.." And before she could say anything else, the whole table roared with laughter! Even my father struggled to contain his!

My mother is really desperate for more grandchildren, she even started planning for 2013, when none of her other kids are even married yet!

As for me? I have a few personal goals to achieve before I can even start on that. So, until then, Mak, minta maaf zahir dan batin!

***

Yesterday, I woke up really early. How early? 9.30 AM early! Suck on that!

Okay, don't.

Since my hair has been devoid of any contact with brushes for the past month, I thought it's high time for me to pamper it a little bit what with all the sun it has been exposed to day in and day out. So I turned to Bob.

Bob is a shemale. She (he?) is nice. She (he??) is chatty so it's always a fun trip when I go to Bob's hair salon. Bob has a really purdy Persian cat as seen in the picture below -

I forgot its name. But that's beside the point of this story.

Don't mind the bare face. It was 9.30 in the morning, hokay! On a Sunday! Sheesh.

Before I had the chance to do my hair, my mother stopped by the hair salon to persuade me to get the shot for prevention against cervical cancer after my hair treatment.

"But I don't want!" I protested.
"Sakit! Hari ya kamek kenak inject ya, keluar darah!" My baby sis chimed in, whose life is sworn to make it even more difficult for me.
"NOOOOOOOOO!!" I cried out.
"And since this is your first kan Kakak, you'll have another two shots to go!" She added.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"

My shout reverberated through the room, I swear the glass of water on the table shook and almost spilled on the table. Wait, I don't swear. I am just trying to describe how loud I was.

VERY to the power of 10.

I don't like needles, NAY, I am terrified of needles. The thought of that thing being near me drives my heart up multiple notches. My heartbeat would accelerate so much, my tear duct would suddenly start producing this.. this thing you human call tear.

I am no human, I am an Ice Princess. I feel no emotion.

After learning that I cannot escape the needle. Ice Princess cebik. :-(

But after much wheedling (I'm so good) I made my mother believe that I'll go and get the shot the day after, instead (which was today but I didn't wake up for it teeheehee).

Helah berjaya. Happy sekejap, will deal with it tomorrow, I thought. And deal with it, I certainly did. Heh heh.

While waiting for the erm thing to finish erm producing steam from the top of my head? I was given a few magazines to read.

Of all magazines - URTV! Yes, tok lah best untuk gelak.

I browse through and laughed and laughed and laughed some more at the headlines displayed on every page.

Oh, poor Fasha. Tak rindu siapa? Tedah!

1. Edisi ekslusif dan terhad??
2. RM69 for a songkok!?
3. Tinggi 5 inci?!?!!
4. Nama songkok is NA'e'SYA?!???
5. ALL OF THE ABOVE!?!???!!! Bloody hell.

Ha ha makan katak!

Ah, I saved the best for last -

HOI!! Siapa ajak Ahmad ke ranjang ni!?! BERANI?! Nurul marah ni, marah!!

Teehee. You can only imagine how mad I looked like, with steams at the top of my head, laughing like no one's business! Ah, good day.

Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Fatin. Oops, I mean batin!

Day 31.

Things that made me tear up today.

1 - A line from a song I listened to while trying to sleep last night.
2 - Waking up in the morning and realising how I have 30 minutes for Subuh, a quick shower, a little last minute packing (I never learn!) and having to be at Uncle's place before 6 (carpool to Bintulu).
3 - When I found out about something.
4 - Being in the listening radius of an officemate playing a list of love songs. I shit you not, I teared up at Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On. Oh schmuck me, schmuck me hard.
5 - And then her playlist played another love song - this time by Jaclyn Victor and Misha Omar. Bloody hell.
6 - And then I just HAD to download the MP3 for that song on my own laptop, and listened to it on repeat. Why do I loathe myself so much, I wonder.
7 - On my way to a Pasar Ramadhan not far from where I'm staying, just because.
8 - Being on my own at the Pasar Ramadhan. Staring guys be damned, aku jalan buat muka ketat. Berani lah tegur! Berani!
9 - When I received a Whatsapp from a friend that read, "Hehehe, I'm at Wisma Genting, jangan jeles!" My already small peepers started to well up with tears right that instant.
10 - All through out listening to Bleeding Love on my iPhone. -__- Ya Tuhan! Well, at least that made me sleep like a baby before breaking fast time.

I'm just extra sensitive today. You'd be too after 31 days of going through what I'm going through at the moment!

Okay, maybe not. I've always been a lil' bit of a crybaby when it comes to matters of the heart. And my heart is screaming out how homesick I am at this moment.

Hey. Manja sangat ni, hati kasi keras sikit, okay?

Random Weekend.

01.

Today I went out alone. It was raining so it made me miss having my best of friends around even more! Also a certain someone and how we would run across Jalan Sultan Ismail in the rain and how I made him use the umbrella with hems so elaborate you'd think it belonged to a princess from the 15th century - but hey, that just goes without saying lah kan.

02.

Yesterday I had to wait for quite some time for my parents to get ready so I stood outside the house and took this picture of my feet and my cat, Ringo. He can't stop following me around, that twat. Nasib baik sayang! Kalau sik, dah lama buat satay!

I KID, I KID! Blrgh, just the thought of it makes me shudder!

(Hahaha! My father just opened my bedroom door and in all serious manner, said, "Tidur dengan Kak Asha ya." He was talking to the cats! Isn't he just adorable?! SAY YES OR I SUMPIT!)

03.

How I found Iman this morning. When I say morning, I mean noon. When I say noon, I mean afternoon.

Cut me some slack, it's the weekend! And I don't get to sleep in covered by heavily strewn comforters and 10,000 pillows when I'm in Bintulu!

So THERE.

04.

Self-explanatory.... but I'm still going to tell you what happened!

So my mother and I went out last night and to our horror, the traffic heading out of the car park area of the mall was moving at a frustrating snail-on-a-crutch like pace we just HAD to start talking about Coca Cola. We mmh-ed and ahh-ed at the thought of quenching our thirst with probably one of the best beverage ever invented (thank you Colonel Cola!).

After we finally escaped the whole debacle, we quickly rushed to the nearest petrol station. And I quickly rushed to the counter, "Kak, Coke duak!" After that, I quickly paid RM3. And I quickly returned back to the car. As I quickly did so, I quickly opened one can, while my other hand juggled with the other one.

And so you know how the story ends - me with a stained t-shirt and a nagging mom.

And so we live happily ever after.

The end!

Pesan.

"Take care. Kasut ikat ketat-ketat. Helmet and jacket kena sentiasa on. Safety first, even if you're in Petronas site, anak Shell have to follow the 12 rules anywhere and everywhere."

Baik, abang!

Not entirely everything in the message.. but that's for me to know and for you to.. find out on your own?

Pssh! Babbling. I'll shut up now.

Hahahahaha who am I kidding? Just to share something that happened yesterday.

There I was yakking on about my watch when Nur interrupted me, "What year were you born under?"

"Eh? (born under?) Erm.. 1987?" Orang sik habis cerita lagik!

"I mean, for Chinese Zodiac."

"Oh! Rabbit!"

"No wonder you talk a lot." She said, matter-of-factly.

What. Whaaat? WHUUUT!!

So she interrupted my very interesting story how I lost the steel watch I got as a birthday present from my father to some whore who stole my bag from me when I was performing Maghrib prayer at Pavilion surau at B2 on the day that I wanted to watch my husband-to-be on screen (ahem THOR ahem!) with.. that!?

No, really. It's a really interesting story. There I was, as composed as I could in the Security Room with this dude, when suddenly that same dude reminded me, "iPod Touch you?"

Zoom in on air mata berjujuran di pipi right there and then!

See? Best kan cerita orang? Don't lie! Berdosa! Nanti Tuhan potong lidah!

Okay now I shut up.

Oh one last thing.

Nur now introduces me to everyone as, "Ni Aysha. Dia memang macam ni, she likes to talk a lot."

Oh wow. I couldn't possibly be that bad, can I?

Oh and another thing.

Rinduuuuuuuuuu..

Shuddup. Shuddup. Shuddup.

P.s. Aren't rabbits supposed to be mute?
P.p.s. Three glasses of white coffee today. This could be the caffeine talking.

A Star in need.

I am not everyone's pick.

I am not overweight, nor am I the perfect build.

I don't wear hijab - so I kalah in that category. But there are thousands and thousands of prettier hijabless girls here. Pssh, KL! So I kalah in that category too.

My posture is terrible in photos taken from an angle, something I developed in secondary school. I'd like to think my long hair does a good job in covering my slouched shoulders.

You know you mean something to me,
if I make time for you,
if I had gone out of the way to help you,
if I willingly let my ego bruised for you.

If there is one thing I take after my father, it's that - my mountains of ego. I am, after all, my father's daughter.

I am the girl you'd share a dirty joke you just heard from another friend with. Also the same person you'd turn to for advices regarding anything, especially when it comes to feelings - I am that friend.

But I hardly take my own advice. I'm hard-headed (hah!). I want what I think I know I need.

I am that friend who is protective over my own friends. I am most judgmental because of it but I make an exception for my former boyfriend's new lady friend, simply because I trust his judgment. And he has not given me any reasons not to. I don't care whether he'll be okay with this but I really do believe she is lucky to have him as her first boyfriend. I've trained you well, my young Padawan!

I laugh the loudest most of the time, because of a combination of several things - it's that hilarious, it comes naturally and I was happy. Sometimes I laugh when I'm not so happy to convince myself that I am. When I know very well that I'm bothered. And that is sad.

There is a guitar in my room now. I'm not that good, but I am better than many of those strumming chicks on Youtube.

I think I'm weird in a normal way. I wish I am special, all the time. "I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul."

For fun, I skip instead of walk sometimes. When I'm alone. Even when there are other people. Come to think of it, I did that in the office a few times. But especially at home.

Lately, I have been slowly clearing some space in my computer, in my blog (by adding more to another blog?).

Funny story - I started blogging to share nonsensical things with friends - feelings, food, music. I still do but after some time, I realise I'm more motivated to blog when I'm really happy and even more when I'm sad. But mostly, I blog to remind myself whatever happens in the future, I can be sure that that took place.

I blog about the conversations I have with people all the time mainly because I'm forgetful and I think those conversations are worthy of a revisit from future me. Wait, that wasn't funny at all.

True story - I have not been loyal to this blog.

I'm 23 years and 5 months old and I think about the M word. Not because I want to get M-ed now (can't even say the whole word). Not because of peer pressure, definitely not because of aunts I meet at weddings who try to matchmake me with their sons (seriously?). But because.. I want someone for life. Ugh. Shoot me now.

I like.. A lot of things. Not in order - Ferrero Rocher, sci-fi movies, staying in doing nothing with a special company, Milo ice cream (20 sen!), a warm hug from a dear friend, how my locks look like the day after I got a hairwash, how it looks like in the morning, my mom's BBQ chicken wings, sincere gestures, how light gets filtered in this room thanks to the blinds, when we kid around and your grasp on mine lingers, Ice Ligo, listening to songs that are in sync with whatever I'm feeling, pillow talks, holiday plans, pleasant surprises, the long car rides with you.

I dislike a lot of things - dumb romcom movies yang sik menjadi, strangers who invade my space and are practically inches away from my face just to say "Hello!", chicken parts - breast, when someone ruin my sunny side up egg (putus kawan!), creepy crawlies, toilets with no bidets (side eyes Singapore), packing and unpacking, the headache you get when you take a nap during Maghrib, not being able to sleep last night.

I am a hopeful (yes!) pessimist. I preach on how we should always look on the brighter side of things when all I do is look at the worst that might happen. You have no idea how many times Joe has pointed this out to me.

"Chamon, you always think of it that way!" said an exasperated Joe Jr. for the umpteenth time. Hehe.

But I still hope for hope.

For someone who once claimed to be an avid reader, I haven't picked up a book since last year. Unless you consider a journal a book. Oh man, I miss Fugro.

Throughout my whole life, I was my worst in 2005.

I hate Labuan with a passion.

I was broken, then patched up and now I'm alone.

No one has had the chance to see me at my best yet. There was a brief moment here and there but nothing permanent.

For that, I pray for longevity - for myself, for my family, friends and you.

Honest to God, these days, I only pray for TWO things. Always the same two words and a name.

I am running out of things to say and I know that it won't be a brilliant idea to stay at home tonight.

You have to know that I tried to make this a random list. At least I tried.

So.

Selamat hari Khamis. Selamat makan. Selamat-selamat selalu.

My outsides look cool, my insides are blue.

Nothing beats cruising down Federal highway alone and singing at the top my lungs with the radio on full blast. Everything seems to be in place for once.

See, I'm a very fickle-minded person. But ever since luck has been trying its best to evade me (and it succeeded), I have turn to the worst. Last Thursday, my backpack was stolen from me. Included in the backpack are my phone, my purse, my watch, and the most dearest thing I hold close to my heart, my iPod Touch. Total loss amounted to approximately RM3000.

Today, I can't even decide on the simplest things.

"Where should we eat?"
"Are you going back to Seri Maya today?"
"What happens if you don't get it?"
"Which frame do you like most, miss?"
"What do you want?"

Yada, yada, yada. Get yourself together, Asha!

I want to breathe that fire again.

I picture how I want it to be all the time. But alas, even the hardest of rock weather.

After days of contemplating to jog at the park, today I said No to my hampered self and drove to the one fondly known as Bulatan.

I could've went on after four rounds of mostly walking but I didn't. It's a strange feeling of calamity, walking in a relaxing stride with strangers running past you.

To them, I was a nobody. But to me, they were the characters behind the playlist I was listening to.

It felt great.

The stitch in my tummy.
The heaving of my chest.
The ray of sunlight amidst the tree branches.
The determination of the fat lady who ran past me three times.

The cherry on top was tutoring my cousin in Add Math after. The composite functions, the logarithms.

Ahh, I feel so alive today.

Unwind.

The 4WD roared as I stepped on the pedal and took a left turn instead of driving straight ahead. One of those days I just felt like I needed to unwind. So, past the one-lane metal bridge I went, hung above the now sediment polluted river, that boasts a new mouth, ironically, rather meekly seeing the present condition - it crosses over to the residential area, perfectly shaded by strong towering trees and lush greeneries with no fenced in garden in sight.

Quite a spectacle for a weathered heart. Made sure my car window was opened all the way down for it - the breeze from the beach through the strands of my hair, the feeling of always being anywhere but not a certain somewhere, it was all much needed.

I'll save the last words meant for this entry in another. Until then -

Fun twins

I guess I'll see ya later, alligator. And I hope it'll be on my happiest note.

Anak Miri.

Normal response when meeting new people who are surprised by the fact that I am local -

"Really? How come I've never seen you before?"

I'm running out of answers for this daft question. Help?
